A NEW System for Ice Fishing Lake of the Woods

After 12 years of guiding for Lake of the Woods resorts and listening to people on what they wanted out of there fishing trips I decided to try something new.

The normal routine for ice fishing on Lake of the Woods is to set your houses in the same area year after year, sometimes the fish are there and sometimes not. Well, what about going to where you know the fish are? Most years you do catch some fish on the south shore or out on the mud later on and you can't beat the December bite down south, at least not for eater fish.

What do you consider a good day? 5-6 fish per day per person? Most outfits will tell you that this is a good average day. Matter of fact I’ll tell you a little insider trade standard, if folks are averaging 4 bucket fish per person per regardless of any thing else caught this is acceptable and there not going anywhere.

On a 2 day package you get your LIMIT! Smile, say you filled and send you down the road with a robust come again. Those of you with some years of Lake of the Woods trips know exactly what I’m talking about. But when the fish are down south OH MY MOTHER OF PEARLS. To bad they only come down hard 2-3 years out 10. DO YOU SIT IN THE BOAT ON THE SOUTH SHORE ALL SUMMER?

NO and at FORDS we don’t do it in the winter either. We go with the fish, wherever that may be. I made awesome clientele at Ballards Resort by bait fishing the reefs and knowing the North end of the lake well, and now we’re going to do it in the winter.

New snowmobiles, the best portables, good heaters and the desire to be the best that I can be. Personally fishing with you all day and catering to what you the customer wants.

What’s included - Full service for 1-5 people fish cleaning Rods and Reels if needed.

What you need - Warm clothes including face mask or helmet, dress as though you we’re going snowmobiling.

Sleeper Ice Fishing House Rentals

What we provide.....

Transportation on and off Lake of the Woods, thermostat control on vented heater, cook stove, bunk bed with mattress and all your bait.

What you need.....

Fishing rods, sleeping bag or bedding, pillow, food and beverages, warm clothing and being ready to catch fish.

We access Lake of the Woods via snowmobile or four wheelers and at times with full size vehicles so bring clothes for the ride.

All our sleepers are two man to help with the ease of moving houses so we can keep you on the fish.

We are very excited about our sleepers as it enables us to provide lodging to help keep you stay on fish and they can be packaged with our personal guide trips with portables or just good "fish in - stay in" the sleepers  - your choice.

Sleeper Ice Fishing House Rental Rates
(2 person Minimum Friday thru Sunday)

• $85.00 per person for 1 night - 1 day or
• $150.00 per person for 2 night - 2 days or
• $200.00 per person for 3 nights - 3 days

Daily Ice Fishing House Rentals - $55.00 per person per day

Our ice fishing day house rentals include transportation on and off lake and all of your ice fishing bait. We use our sleepers for ice fishing day houses and all are 2 man. So you have all the same amenities and benefits of the sleeper ice fishing houses.
